Indi Celebz: Movie Review: Tanu Weds Manu

Tanu Weds Manu, a movie by R.Madhavan & Kargana Ranaut. When I have seen the first promo few months back, I though i would be an awesome comedy-romantic wedding. Few months back we had Band Baaja Baraat, which was based on India Wedding, achieve a good success. But this movie is different from BBB, but it has the little similarity of story between Namaste London, DDLJ, Purab Aur Pashchim etc...where East-West love are came into action.

Ever since Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met released, it's like a trend to portrait the leading lady like Geet (She was Bindas, Full of Attitude, Having Masti all the time)...In Indian Television, we have many serials like that, heroins are trying hard to portrait themselves as Geet. Here also Tanu (Kangana) plays a Punjaban who's in love with some one else (Similar to DDLJ, JWM, HDDCS...etc). I mean come on, don't we have anything new to show???

Well the story indeed little complicated, as Tanu was very much confused till the last moment, to choose whom for the marriage. The story is very simple (small town people are indeed simple), the only confusion is Kangana's role, she needs some acting classes, as in many places her acting was directly copying from other movies.

Songs of the movie are nice, Tanu looks gorgeous in Punjabi outfit. While Maddy was very sound & sober. He was deeply in love with Tanu, but hardly expressed that, the last quarter. I don't like the way Jimmy Shergill enters.

One thing is for sure, that those we call NRI's are much more to Indian traditions as they feel, by following tradition they can keep in touch with India. We are not at all ready to accept the outspoken Tanu, neither her bad slangs.

In short: Movie was just ok ok type, songs were nice, the song 'Jugny' was just awesome. Maddy's acting was good, Kangana needs some improvements.

So I give this ** out of *****
